Biography & Background

A recognized expert in territorial resilience, energy transition, and environmental transition, Lionel Le Gloanec has more than thirty years of experience in the fields of environmental engineering, sustainable development, natural resource management, and supporting territories in addressing the challenges of ecological transition.

His career has led him to hold management positions within major international groups, notably Veolia, as well as to create and manage several companies specializing in environmental solutions, resource recovery, water management, biodiversity preservation, and sustainable territorial development.

Throughout his career, he has led numerous projects in Europe and Africa, particularly in Morocco, in the fields of water, energy, sanitation, circular economy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and the fight against desertification. His expertise also covers issues related to energy transition, environmental innovation, and the governance of strategic resources.

Alongside his consulting and engineering activities, Lionel Le Gloanec is involved in higher education as an adjunct professor at the University of Western Brittany, where he shares his expertise on ecological transition issues applied to territories, transport, and logistics.

As Director of the Nexus Division of the International Institute for Geopolitical Studies (IIEG), he leads research, strategic reflection, and cooperation initiatives dedicated to the interactions between water, energy, food, the environment, and territorial resilience. His work contributes to promoting an integrated approach to major contemporary challenges by highlighting the links between resource security, sustainable development, regional stability, and state sovereignty.

Convinced that ecological transitions must be considered at the level of territories and populations, he works to develop innovative solutions that foster resilience, international cooperation, and the emergence of sustainable models adapted to the realities of the 21st century.
